Iranian stage director selected as juror of Int’l Short Film Festival Detmold

Iranian stage director and film critic Hamed Soleimanzadeh is to judge at the 2021 Int'l Short Film Festival Detmold in Germany.

Iranian stage director and film critic Hamed Soleimanzadeh has been selected as a jury member of the 2021 International Short Film Festival Detmold to be held in Germany.

So far, Soleimanzadeh has been among the selection committee and jury members of many national and international film festivals, including the 13th Jaipur Int’l Film Festival, Isfahan Int’l Film Festival for Children & Youth, Seoul guro Youth Film Festival, the Dytiatko Int’l Children Media Festival in Ukraine, the Kazan Int’l Youth Film Festival, the Zero Plus Film Festival in Russia and Hero and the Time Film Festival again in Russia.

Born in 1987 in the Iranian city of Mashhad, Soleimanzadeh is a film critic, author and a university professor. Holding a PhD in Art Research and Film studies, he is now the official member of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI), the European Children’s Film Association (ECFA) and also the Iranian Short Film Association (ISFA).  

He was the head of the international department of the 31st International Film Festival for Children and Youth as well as the 31st Iran International Academic Theatre Festival.

‘Daily Deliriums of the Sleeping Man’ and ‘A Cinema in Iran: Sohrab Shahid Cinema’ are among his writings published by Dibaye Publications and Tehran University, respectively. He is now in charge of research department of international affairs of Farabi Cinema Foundation.  

The ISFF Detmold celebrates high-quality films by innovative filmmakers from all around the globe. The festival focuses on non-commercial short films: Documentary, animated, experimental and fiction films.

The event will be held on October 22-24. 2021.
